Edina, MN boasts a nationally renowned school district, a thriving business community and nearly 40 award-winning public parks. This community is situated immediately southwest of Minneapolis in Hennepin County, and has a population of 47,941. Many major highways run through or are close to Edina, making it readily accessible to all metropolitan area. Minnesota State Highways 62 and 100 divide the city into four sections. Major employers in town include Dow Water Process Solutions, Edina Public Schools, Edina Realty, Fairview Southdale Hospital, International Dairy Queen, Southdale Center, Jerry's Enterprises and The Nash Finch Co.
Edina has numerous retail shopping centers, including Southdale Center, the first climate-controlled, fully enclosed mall in the United States. Other shopping areas include Galleria, Yorktown and Centennial Lakes Plaza. The city also boasts a thriving downtown area at 50th Street and France Avenue, known simply as 50th & France. Edinborough Park is one of Edina's crown jewels—a multi-use development that also includes an indoor park.
